Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw and Pemberton Township Police Chief Jonathan Glass announced that a 34-year-old Mount Holly man was charged today with possession of child pornography, also known as Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
Austin Metivier was charged with one count of Possession of CSAM (Third Degree). The defendant is a corrections officer at the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly. He was taken into custody today at his place of employment and lodged in the Camden County Correctional Facility in Camden pending a first appearance in Superior Court.
During the execution of a search warrant at his residence, multiple electronic devices were seized and will be examined by detectives from the BCPO High-Tech Crimes Unit. The case will now be prepared for presentation to a grand jury for possible indictment.
The investigation began last month after Pemberton Township police were informed that a hard drive belonging to Metivier contained Child Sexual Abuse Material. A forensic examination of the hard drive later revealed that it contained multiple explicit photos of underage females.
The investigation was conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office and the Pemberton Township Police Department, with assistance from the Mount Holly Township Police Department. The lead investigators are Pemberton Township Detective Brenna Stone and BCPO Detective Christian D’Alfonso. Metivier will be prosecuted by the BCPO Special Victims Unit.
The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office is a member of the New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
