Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw announced that a 23-year-old Delran man has been sentenced to seven years in state prison for having sexual contact with three underage girls and possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) on his cell phone.
Under an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office, Keith R. Desousa Jr. pled guilty to three counts of Sexual Assault (Second Degree) and one count of Possession of CSAM (Third Degree). The sentence was handed down January 9 in Superior Court in Mount Holly by the Hon. Aimee Belgard, P.J.Cr.
The investigation began in 2023 after one of the victims contacted police regarding her interaction with Desousa. An investigation was initiated that confirmed Desousa communicated with all three victims through social media, offering to sell or exchange marijuana and other drugs for sex.
“Children are our most vulnerable population, and the prevalence of social media makes it much easier for predators to gain access to them,” Prosecutor Bradshaw said. “Sexual offenses, particularly those against the young who are often defenseless, will be investigated, prosecuted and punished.”
Desousa was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Katharine Dolin. The investigation was conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office, the Maple Shade Police Department and the Medford Township Police Department.
Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by this defendant is asked to send an email to tips@co.burlington.nj.us, or call 609-265-5035 and ask to speak to a detective in the BCPO Special Victims Unit.
The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office is a member of the New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
