Pemberton Township Shootings Under Investigation

Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Pemberton Township Police Chief David H. Jantas announced that a man was shot last night in the Sunbury Village section of Pemberton Township.

Police were alerted shortly after 9 p.m. that a shooting had occurred on Kinsley Road. It was subsequently determined that the victim, a 20-year-old male, had been taken by an acquaintance to a Pemberton hospital and later transported and admitted to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, where he was listed in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The investigation is being conducted by detectives from the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and the Pemberton Township Police Department.

It was the first of two shootings that occurred yesterday in the Sunbury Village section of the township. The second incident involved a police officer.

Consistent with the recently enacted Independent Prosecutor legislation, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Shooting Response Task Force is conducting the investigation into the police-involved shooting incident that occurred last night.

All press inquiries regarding that investigation should be directed to the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.
