Clementon Drug Dealer Charged with Homicide in Death of Customer

Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Evesham Township Police Chief Christopher Chew announced that a Clementon drug dealer was charged with causing the death of a Marlton customer to whom he sold fentanyl and cocaine earlier this year.

Sean Savage, 45, from the La Cascata neighborhood in Clementon, was charged with one count of Strict Liability for Drug-Induced Death (First Degree), one count of Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Third Degree), and one count of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Third Degree).

Savage was arrested September 18 in Camden by the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit and taken to the Burlington County Jail. Savage was released following an initial appearance yesterday in Superior Court in Mount Holly. The case will now be prepared for presentation to a Grand Jury for possible indictment.

Police were called to a Hopewell Road residence on February 20 and discovered the deceased body of an adult male who appeared to have overdosed. Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood concluded the cause of death was fentanyl and fentanyl toxicity.

The investigation, which was conducted by the Evesham Township Police Department and the Prosecutor’s Office, determine that the drugs that caused the fatal overdose were purchased from Savage. The decedent’s identity is not being released at this time.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Jeremy Lackey.
